Some equate “change management” with “project management.” However, while there are certainly similarities between the two, there are also important distinctions.  

Project management serves to manage people and processes to transition aorganization from an “as-is” state to its desired “to-be” state.   

On the other hand, “change management” requires a coordinated and integrated strategy of internal communication, stakeholder engagement, project governance, and/or user training to achieve a specific business outcome (e.g. seamless transition to the cloud).
